About Event

Every week on The AI LIVE Show, we review the best AI-generated films on the internet. In The Creator Sessions, we sit down with the people making them.

Next up: Afro Futcha. The alias of Diane Laidlaw, a London-based filmmaker, music producer and DJ who's been teaching people this craft since 2023, long before most of us had touched it.

Her work fuses Black culture across the diaspora and across decades: Give It to Me, a Blaxploitation-disco music video that takes on gentrification with alien flair; Warm Coat, a study of codependency that screened at Pinewood; and The Last, an Afro-futurist documentary on what technology is doing to us. She took first place at Project Odyssey with the music video What Do I Know, and she's spoken at TED AI Vienna on the future of cinema.

She also comes at this from a direction almost none of our guests have, music first. Chris and Andrew will get into what a producer's ear brings to AI filmmaking, why she started teaching before there was anything to teach, and what she sees coming that the rest of us haven't clocked yet.

Come with questions. We'll be putting the best ones from the chat straight to her.
