Build and Brew

I moved to Toronto recently and didn't know many people here. So I started doing what felt natural, a casual weekly hangout every Thursday after work and working from cafes

No agenda. No slides. No pitch. Just honest conversation and no pressure networking with like minded people who are building things, figuring things out, or just looking to make friends in a new city.

We meet online every Thursday 5:30–7:30PM. If enough people want to meet in person in Toronto, we'll make that happen too.

Just show up.

Who is this for ?

Anyone who is building something, thinking about building something, or just wants to be around people who are. Young professionals, startup founders, engineers, students, and anyone navigating a new city. No credentials required, no business cards needed. Just genuine people having real conversations.

What do you get out of it?

Honestly, just a real conversation with someone who has been in the room where these problems get solved.

I have spent 7 years building systems across fintech, e-commerce, and data infrastructure. I have seen what works and what blows up at 2am. I am not here to sell you anything. I am here because I genuinely want to understand what you are building and what is getting in the way.

If you are a founder or professional, bring your messy problems. The vendor that keeps overpromising. The process that takes three people to do what should take one. The tool your team hates but nobody has time to replace. The thing that feels like it should not be this hard. I want to hear it.

If you are a student or young professional, bring what you are working on. Career questions, project ideas, figuring out what is next. I will be straight with you.

If you are just curious, that is enough. Come anyway.

You might leave with clarity, a useful connection, or just a good conversation. Either way, Thursday evening is well spent.

Agenda

5:30 – 5:45 : Just show up

Come as you are. Grab a coffee, open your laptop, say hi. No need to have anything prepared or have a reason to be here. If it is just two of us we will figure it out. We always do.

5:45 – 6:00 : Who is in the room tonight

If we have a few people, we go around quickly. Just your name, what you are working on or thinking about lately, and one thing on your mind. Nothing formal. Think of it like telling a friend what you have been up to.

6:00 – 7:00 : Talk or work, your call

If someone has something they want to think through out loud, we dig in as a group. Could be a problem at work, a business idea, something that has been bugging you, or a decision you cannot make. We are all just people who have figured some things out and are still figuring out others.

If nobody has an agenda that night, we just work. Everyone opens their laptop and does their own thing. Conversation happens when it happens. Some of the best chats have started that way.

7:00 – 7:30 : Wind down

We close with one thing each person is taking away from tonight. Takes five minutes and makes the whole session feel like it meant something. Then we hang around, make some introductions, and call it a night whenever it feels right.

Some weeks it is a full room. Some weeks it is just two or three of us. Both are good. The point is showing up consistently and seeing who you meet over time.
