The Line in the Silica: Determining Ethical AI Guardrails Within Creative Work
Humans have always used tools in the Arts, ever since the first charcoal paintings in the Cave of Altamira (and no doubt earlier). AI is a very different ‘tool’: one capable of self-learning, doing, evolving, and in many ways outmoding. This new technology poses profound human questions requiring deeper contemplation.
Meanwhile, “just use AI” has become the quiet directive behind many briefs, pitches, and public art calls. Few people want to talk about what’s being traded away, yet in Creative Class circles this is one of the main topics of discussion.
This panel is the first thought leadership event from Tweeds Foundation, a new Cincinnati-based 501(c)(3) Arts Nonprofit, and the beginning of a much larger conversation about Arts, Culture, and the value of human purpose in this new age.

Thought leaders from creative business and artistic disciplines will come together to acknowledge AI’s benefits alongside the frictions everyone feels yet few name: jobs reshaped or lost, work scraped without permission, and audiences misunderstood about what’s really human-made. Rather than debating whether AI is good or bad, they’ll discuss who benefits, who bears the cost and how creatives can push back on unethical asks while still using AI as a tool on their own terms.
Attendees will leave with sharper questions for clients, collaborators, patrons, providers - a starting point for where Guardrails must be drawn. And a bold Mission/Vision will be shared, revealing the Queen City’s rightful throne in becoming one of the great American cities in a Neo-Renaissance movement.
