circuit bending basics
learn the basics of circuit bending, electronics, and soldering in this single session workshop. attendees will learn about and install an LTC1799 mod and an output jack onto a modern musical toy to transform it to a glitchified groove box!
circuit bending is the modification and re-purposing of (typically defunct) electronics from a perspective that is entirely uninterested in engineering, but is instead concerned with creation, experimentation, and expression. this workshop will introduce the basics of "new-school" circuit bending, electronics theory, and soldering.
all materials, tools, and parts are included in the cost of the workshop. spots will be very limited to ensure there are enough resources to go around, so reserve your spot quick!
all attendees will receive a resource guide providing additional information on other LTC1799 projects and bending projects they may wish to pursue with their new skills. these resources are completely free and will also be publicly available for attendees to share and use as they like: as one might expect from a medium centered in creating art from the discarded, circuit bending and it’s community place a heavy emphasis on accessibility of information, so sharing knowledge and resources is very encouraged!
learning outcomes
understand the basic principals behind circuit bending
learn how to solder
create your own circuit bent groovebox
learn basic skills for working with low voltage electronics in general
agenda
what is circuit bending?
what do you mean by "new-school"?
how do I solder?
what is an LTC1799 and how do I use it?
how do I add an audio output to something?
creation & q/a: (remaining time)
for the remainder of the workshop, attendees will modify a musical toy, adding an LTC1799 mod and an output jack. alex will supervise and answer questions to assist the build process.

all materials will be provided.
you'll walk out with: a circuit bent groovebox and some new skills!
