California Ocean Conference Coming to Santa Barbara, December 8–11, 2026

Santa Barbara will host the California Ocean Conference, a flagship gathering celebrating ocean stewardship, innovation, science, culture, and community action.
Across four days, attendees will experience a dynamic program designed to inspire and connect people who care about the future of California’s coast. Public-facing highlights include ocean-focused panels, film screenings, storytelling, cultural programming, startup demonstrations, lightning pitches, and a celebratory live music event at the Granada Theater.
The conference will also feature an evening screening of Ocean by David Attenborough, accompanied by the Santa Barbara Symphony, along with keynote conversations on ocean data, action, policy, and global ocean leadership. Attendees will have opportunities to engage with scientists, innovators, policymakers, artists, advocates, and community leaders working toward practical solutions for ocean and coastal resilience.
The event concludes with field experiences showcasing the beauty of California’s coast, including opportunities connected to Santa Cruz Island and the Dangermond Preserve—an inspiring reminder of what this gathering is designed to protect.
