About Event

Layoffs are hitting hard across the tech and data world.
And right now, the most valuable thing we can offer each other is honest conversations and shared experience.

This is a 1-hour community session focused on the current data job market — not through slides, frameworks, or generic advice — but through real stories from people who’ve been in the trenches.

No presentations.
No rehearsed talks.
Just real-world experience, lessons learned, and open Q&A.

What this session is (and isn’t)

This is:

  • A candid discussion on today’s data job market

  • Real job-hunt stories: what worked, what didn’t, and what surprised us

  • Practical, no-BS tips you won’t find in blog posts

  • A safe space to ask the questions you’re already thinking about

This is NOT:

  • A sales pitch

  • A webinar with slides

  • A motivational talk detached from reality

What we’ll cover (loosely)

We’ll organically touch on different data science job families, including:

  • Machine Learning / Applied Science

  • Product Data Science

  • Analytics & Business-focused Data Roles

Each panelist specializes in different areas, so you’ll hear multiple perspectives, not a single narrative.

👉 No fixed agenda. You bring the questions.

Who should attend

  • Data scientists impacted by layoffs

  • Folks actively job searching

  • Early-career or senior professionals feeling stuck or confused

  • Anyone trying to understand where the data job market is actually heading

Panelists

You’ll hear directly from senior data scientists who’ve navigated the market themselves:

  • Shivam Bindal, Senior Data Scientist, Google

  • Sai K. Bysani, Lead Data Analyst, BCBS

  • Karun Thankachan, Senior Data Scientist, Walmart

Each brings a different lens — ML, product, analytics — and real job-hunt experience to the table.

Moderator

I’ll be moderating the conversation, keeping it grounded, honest, and focused on what actually helps — not what sounds good on LinkedIn.

Community note

If you’re struggling, you’re not alone.
If you’re confused, that’s normal.
If you’re tired of polished advice that doesn’t reflect reality — this space is for you.

Come listen.
Come ask.
Come share, if you’re comfortable.

Sometimes, the best support is knowing others are walking the same road.
