Deep Dive: Characters
This workshop offers a practical introduction to developing stronger, more consistent characters for your stories.
We’ll start with a short writing craft primer, looking at archetypes and how they can be used as helpful tools when building characters. We’ll also touch on what helps characters feel believable and engaging to readers, without overcomplicating the process. In the second part, we’ll use Sudowrite’s Chat feature to brainstorm characters.
You’ll see how Chat can help you explore traits, motivations, and dynamics, and how to move from vague ideas to more concrete character concepts. Finally, we’ll take a look at working with characters in the Story Bible. This includes using custom character roles, creating simple character templates that fit your story, and importing ideas you’ve already developed in Chat so you can keep everything in one place.
The goal of this session is to give you a clear starting point and a few practical tools you can apply right away, whether you’re creating new characters or refining ones you already have.
