LEEDing the Wild: Built for Wildlife, Built for Climate
An Exclusive Houston Climate Week Tour of LEED-Certified Design at the Houston Zoo
About the Event
Kick off Houston Climate & Energy Week with a behind-the-scenes look at how the built environment can drive climate solutions. This exclusive, fast-paced tour will highlight the Houston Zoo’s LEED-certified projects and their role in shrinking the Zoo’s environmental footprint while supporting world-class care for wildlife.
The tour begins with the newly opened Jack’s Café and Reflections event center — the Zoo’s first mass timber building and the final piece of its centennial master plan. From there, attendees will explore additional LEED Gold projects:
Birds of the World exhibit & Avian Care Environment
West Admin staff building (renovated)
Houston Zoo Headquarters
Hear first-hand about the challenges and opportunities of building on a century-old campus, balancing sustainability goals with animal care, and leading with conservation in mind.
