Words for My Mother Poetry Workshop
Words for My Mother is a poetry workshop that invites our poets to explore their relationships with their mothers–messy, tender, distant, or deeply rooted. Through guided prompts and discussion, our poets will be encouraged to write honestly and expansively about the mothers who shaped us – and how we continue to shape ourselves. We will expand the definition of “mother” to include caregivers, chosen family, and ancestry when that applies. As always, this workshop will offer a supportive space for both emerging and experienced writers and creatives to uncover stories that may be tender, unresolved, or celebratory. Together, we will examine how language and memory honor nuance, and give voice to what often feels difficult to articulate. No prior poetry experience is necessary – only a willingness to listen inward, take creative risks, and be in community.
Come light, come heavy. Bring your voice to the altar of art and surrender. We’ll meet you there.
