Whitepaper Reading BKK: What is Institutional Web3?
Topic
“Institutional grade” is one of the most abuse phrases in this crypto cycle, used to describe everything from centralized L1s to custodians, to funds unloading junk on retail. But does it refer only to technical strength — uptime, security, and throughput — or to a legal and operational regime shaped by compliance, accountability, privacy, and enforceability.
Canton makes this concrete: a public-permissioned L1 designed around selective disclosure and institutional coordination, raising the question of whether this is a genuinely new model for financial infrastructure or a more efficient version of consortium-style systems.
