About Event

Why the gas stove when induction cooks faster?

How does a heat pump heat and cool? (and why a furnace doesn’t)

Now that temperatures and gas prices are up, now is the best time to electrify!

Join industry veterans Michelle Malanca Frey (Mission Atlas) and Carmen Henrikson (Circle Box Ventures) in an honest and plain-spoken story of electrification.  We’ll cover questions like: What does it actually look like to make the switch in an Alameda home? What did it cost? What worked, what didn't — and was it worth it?  What did the dogs think of the project?

Carmen and Michelle are Alameda residents and understand the challenges of Alameda’s (old) building stock and the options available through Alameda’s local utility. Renters will also hear about electric options for making their home healthier and lowering their climate impact.

We'll cover real experiences from real people, practical information about rebates and incentives available to California households, and resources to help you take the next step — whatever that looks like for you.

Whether you've already made the switch, you're curious about where to start, or you just want to know what your neighbors are doing — this is your space.

No sales pitches. No jargon. Just neighbors — who happen to be Rewiring America electric coaches — talking, connecting, and making our homes and community work better for all of us and our planet!

Come as you are. Bring your questions.

Where: REAP Climate Center (note you’ll be asked to sign a waiver: www.reapcenter.org/waiver).
