Spring Equinox Sketching Class
Mark the turn of the seasons with this Spring Equinox Sketching class.
We’ll meet at Cruickshank Gardens at Aberdeen University and take a slow saunter to observe the signs of Spring all around us. You’re welcome to respond to whatever resonates with you - you could make marks to the sounds of the singing birds, sketch the unfurling leaves, or early crocuses and snowdrops. We’ll let go of the attachment to the outcome, and enjoy the process of making.
This lesson is an invitation to connect to the season through creativity and the art of noticing. It’s open to all levels including total beginners. This will be a small group activity where you’re welcome to come alone or with friends. As your host, I’m happy to teach or provide gentle guidance where needed but please do not worry too much about your artistic abilities. I’ll also bring a plethora of materials for you to work with along with a sketchbook for you to keep. If you could please bring warm clothes (including waterproofs!), and something to sit on (camping chair, picnic blanket, etc).
Cruickshank Gardens is an accessible garden in most sections. There are some hills and stairs, so if you have mobility issues, please be sure to let me know ahead of time so I can accomodate.
Please note, that if it looks like there’s a possibility of light rain, we’ll still go ahead with the event. Bring a brolly, bring weatherproof clothes, we’ll make the most of it! If the weather is due to be really horrible and we cannot go ahead, you will be notified as soon as possible (the day before at the very latest), and refunded. We’ll try to reschedule to a different date that suits everyone.
