Tucked behind burgundy velvet drapes just off Market Street, Shoji is one of SF's best new bars — a dark, intimate room wrapped in a hand-painted mural of prowling tigers inspired by Kyoto's Nijo Castle. The cocktail program leans deep into Japanese spirits and unexpected ingredients: think wagyu-fat-washed whisky old fashioneds, a kabosu-citrus riff on the margarita, and a shochu martini finished with cherry blossom. It's a room built for good conversation and better drinks — the kind of spot that makes you forget you're two blocks from the expo floor.
