Soil + Ag People Walk/Run at NYCW 2025!
Hey there! 👋
NYCW is a great time to make friends. Soil and ag folks are sometimes in the minority of NYCW - Manhattan isn't famous for its farms! So it's important that we team up.
Rather than compete for attention with yet another mediocre happy hour, what if we did something outside? In the daytime?!??!
What? 🏃
Lauren Gifford of the CSU Soil Carbon Solutions Center (soil C research group) and Chris Tolles of Yard Stick PBC (soil carbon measurement tech) and Wayne Honeycutt of the Soil Health Institute (soil health research and outreach) are co-hosting a morning run/walk followed by coffee and snacks at a cafe on your own dime.
Where? 🗺️
We'll meet at "Pumphouse Park" which is a small spot right next to the 9/11 Memorial and then travel north along the water when we set out. The walking and running groups will take different loops (really just up and then back down the waterfront) but conclude at the same coffee shop, Tartinery, which is right next to Pumphouse Park anyway. That way if you're late you can still join for a coffee.
When? 🗓️
We'll meet Weds at 7:15AM for the walk/run, and we'll get to the coffee shop around 8AM. After that, it's up to you to hang for a while or to move on with your day.
Who? 👪
We dunno exactly but an awesome mix of founders, investors, tech-types, scientists, land managers, and big company people, all sold out for soil and agriculture.
This is an open event so please share far and wide! What we care most about is getting the raddest soil/ag people together for community building at NYCW.
Are you a person who doesn't focus on soil or ag in your day-to-day but thinks they're awesome? Please join us anyway! It's a big tent and there's no loyalty test at the door.
