Post Generation brings together 3 multi-disciplinary artists to transform the discarded remnants of generative AI development into new creative work.
Created with support from Google, we asked these three artists to draw from an extensive archive of videos generated during the testing of early Veo models, and approach them as new material to be remixed and given new meaning.
As a new generation of increasingly polished video models emerges, Post Generation looks back at the earlier imaginative artifacts left behind for artistic reinvention.
Featuring new creative work from Karyn Nakamura (NYC), Hayley Mortin (Montréal), and Zelia ZZ Tan (LA).
Hayley Mortin is a Montréal-based researcher and artist whose work connects human-centered AI, textile production, and independent publishing. She is a Staff UX Researcher specializing in AI, the founder of experimental knitwear project Dazy Chains, and the founding editor of Needlebound, an anthology documenting contemporary fibre culture.
Zelia ZZ Tan is a Los Angeles– and Hong Kong–based choreographer, director, media artist, and researcher exploring how bodies relate to technology and their environments through performance, motion capture, XR, and participatory systems. She is the co-founder of TechDanceLab, an Asian Cultural Council Altius Fellow, and holds MFAs in Choreography and Interactive Media for Performance from CalArts.
Karyn Nakamura is a Tokyo-born, New York–based artist and researcher whose work explores agency, communication, and honesty in technology through large-scale installations, moving image, and experimental systems. A graduate of MIT’s Art and Design program, she conducts visual forensics research with Northwestern University’s HAIC Lab and is a recipient of the Steve Jobs Archive Fellowship.
