ELEGANCE IN REFUSAL

​Elegance in refusal. Refusal of established norms. Refusal in the boldness of a brushstroke, the sharpness of a single pencil line. Refusal in the edges of a garment, in the simplicity of a design. Refusal in the negative space, in the clean lines, in the quiet resistance.

The exhibition will run from 16th September to 28th September at 62-64 Baker Street W1U 7DF, opening hours 10am-6pm weekdays and 11am-4pm on Saturdays. Free entry.

The launch evening on 17th September will mark the celebration of the opening of Bleur Studios & Gallery on Baker Street, taking up a large retail space on Baker Street and turning it into a temporary art gallery & creative studios. An exciting new initiative putting artists back on the high street as an alternative to commercial retail shops – and to fight the rise of empty retail spaces, supported by Westminster Council's Meanwhile On project and The Portman Estate.

​Elegance in Refusal is an art exhibition and fashion space documenting artists drawing London Fashion Week from the atelier to the gallery. Co-curated by Bleur Gallery and fashion artist Joanna Layla, the exhibition presents an exciting curation of the best of contemporary London fashion artists and a large-scale collection of live drawings as the 2025 LFW catwalks unveil the new collections.
