MTL_code
MTL_code is a laid-back evening where you can expect pizza, drinks, and a talk or two from guest speakers on software development, programming, and the latest in technology. Whether you’re a seasoned dev, curious about building great software products, or want to network with other VC-backed startups in Montreal, it’s a great opportunity to share ideas, ask questions and meet people who geek out on the same stuff you do.
Can’t make this month’s event? No worries, we host MTL_code on the third Thursday of every month.
Agenda:
6pm: Doors
6-7pm: Meet some of the Botpress team, fellow attendees and enjoy pizza and drinks
7-8:15pm: A talk from our guest speaker(s)
8:15pm and onward: Drink and chat some more, ask questions and network
Talks to expect:
François Levasseur, Software developer at Botpress will deliver Type-Checking JSON Schema with Jex. When building AI systems with user-written integrations, we ran into a couple of puzzles:
1. How do you ensure a user-generated integration implements a specific contract or interface?
2. How can you detect breaking changes in a user-generated integration?
Existing tools didn't solve this, so he built Jex, a TypeScript library that type-checks JSON Schemas. In this talk, he'll walk through type theory, TypeScript nuances, and—most importantly—how his library works, including some of the key design decisions behind it.
Frédéric Harper, Senior Developer Relations Manager at TinyMCE will deliver AI for senior developers: the wins, the risks, and the blind spots. By now you’ve seen enough talks about vibe coding and artificial intelligence while experimenting with it yourself. Some said it changed their lives. Others said it’s evil. One showed your tricks to be more efficient with it. Others demonstrated different tools out there to help you make up your mind.
But outside of the hype and usefulness of LLMs, have you ever stopped to really consider the implications for senior developers and leadership teams? Did you evaluate properly how it can really help you achieve software development marvels versus where the hype stops?
Most of us jumped on the bandwagon without a second thought! In this talk, we’ll have a realistic overview of the landscape right now, what it means for the future, how to implement bulletproof AI strategies, identify potential risks, and how to empower your team to be successful in this new AI era.
