Not our first rodeo: AI use in game development

Date: 17/9-2026
Time: 16-20.30
Location: D15, Drejervej 15

AI has exploded over the past few years, and while the rest of the world is starting to implement it in their everyday lives over the last couple of years, games have been playing with AI for decades. Our industry has successfully embraced a wide range of AI-powered tools and processes along the way, and there is no doubt it will remain at the cutting edge of technology.

Opinions are split, both philosophically, environmentally, and practically. Everyone seems to have a strong take on the AI tools flooding the market right now, but like most disruptive tech before it, there's a need to avoid a two-team fight between "for" vs. "against." Spilbar has always been a forum for discussion, curiosity, and nuance, which is why this topic had to be on the agenda.

The evening kicks off with four short talks from people at different studios, sharing how AI shows up in their day-to-day work, whether it be pipelines, small time-savers, or whole systems built around it. Then we'll open things up with a panel discussion diving into the bigger, more philosophical questions.

We will be presenting talks by:

  • Bjørn Meldal (Senior QA & Release Manager, Ghost Ship Games)

  • Rasmus Thorsted (Marketing Manager, Trophy Games)

  • TBD, Tactile Games

  • Gabriel Lascano (Technical Director, SYBO)
