About Event
Biotic Immersion is an immersive participatory multimedia installation exploring citizen science, ecology, and belonging through audio guidance, biodiversity photography, and live data visualisation.
Responding to the exclusion of minority communities from biodiversity initiatives, the Biotic Immersion project reimagines data collection as sensory, inclusive, and relational. Participants use their smartphones to follow a self-guided audio experience through a nearby garden, photographing biodiversity and uploading images to the iNaturalist app via a custom website.
The collected data is transformed into a live projected visualisation within the exhibition space, creating a collective experience that encourages deeper connections between participants, local green spaces, and the living world.
