Natural Pigments & Poetry: Farm-to-Table Breakfast
Join us for a morning gathering that celebrates the gifts of the land and the people who tend it. Meet the farmers of California Street Farm, learn about their sustainable growing practices, and savor seasonal bites crafted from local, farm-fresh produce.
As part of the experience, you’ll create poetry using natural watercolors and inks made from food scraps left over during meal preparation—transforming what would otherwise be wasted into a medium for art. Together, we’ll reflect on the sunlight, soil, hands, and creativity that bring food from the earth to our tables, practicing the gift economy through gratitude, mindfulness, and community connection.
Cory, one of the sisters behind California Street Farm, will share her farming journey and guide us through a storytelling exercise—inviting us to put gratitude into words and imagery through poetry.

About California Street Farm:
California Street Farm is a community-rooted urban farm in Northeast Minneapolis. Since 2012, the land has been a hub for fresh, sustainably grown produce. The farm follows organic principles, farming entirely by hand, supporting pollinators, and avoiding chemical pesticides and fertilizers—all to nurture the health of soil, people, and planet.
In partnership with Gifting Grove and Greener Pastures, this gathering celebrates farmers dedicated to sustainable and regenerative practices while honoring the gifts of soil, sun, and food.
This event will take place in the Greener Pastures Kitchen and home of Greener Pastures' Executive Director Sarah Carroll in Northeast Minneapolis, just a few blocks away from California Street Farm. The location is not ADA accessible - please note that guests must be able to climb 6 steps.
Greener Pastures is a 501c3 nonprofit on a mission to build a more humane, sustainable, just food system through the power of visual storytelling. We help eaters learn about incredible regenerative and local farms and how to vote with your dollar and take civic action to build a better food system.
Gifting Grove is a non-profit dedicated to creating tangible opportunities to participate in a gift economy—where living becomes inherently sustainable, joyful, and rooted in connection. Through community events, partnerships, creative facilitation, and an online presence, we invite individuals to explore a culture where value is measured not by what you consume, but by what you give and share.
