β€‹β€‹πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Mindful Makers: Mindfulness Hack #4 - Generosity

Join us on Saturday, Jan. 17 for Mindful Makers' first generosity hack, with meditation and teaching from Venerable Phramedhivajirodom (V. Vajiramedhi) from Thailand's Cherntawan International Meditation Center.

In this special mini-hack, we'll break from the usual format to channel the spirit of generosity by having each team collaborate on a custom solution designed specifically for another participant (or team) in the room β€” someone outside their own group. Teams will build a meaningful tech tool or experience that positively impacts that person's daily life, with an emphasis on fostering mindfulness, wellbeing, and emotional resilience.

Come explore ideas such as:

  • β€‹πŸŽ Personalized mindfulness aids tailored to an individual's routines, challenges, or goals

  • β€‹πŸ§  Custom interfaces or reminders that gently encourage presence, gratitude, or stress reduction

  • β€‹πŸš«πŸ“± Screenless or low-tech interactions (with optional screenless tech available on-site)

  • β€‹πŸ€² Tools that promote connection, kindness, or self-compassion in everyday moments

  • β€‹πŸŒΏ Human-centered experiences that support acts of giving and receiving

At the end of the day, teams will be able to present their creations directly to the beneficiary of their work.

As with all hacks, the theme is optional and you are welcome to continue work on your existing ideas, but we're curious to see how building for one another can bring a sense of care and community the experience of a hackathon. Hope to see you all there!

β€‹β€‹πŸ’‘ Who Should Join

  • Meditators: Some experience with meditation or prayer is encouraged (occasional dabblers are welcome!). For this hack, all that is required is curiosity and a willingness to learn.

  • Non-coders welcome: You don’t need to be a programmer β€” we’ll keep a balanced ratio of coders to non-coders (~1:1) so everyone can contribute meaningfully. If you are a coder and prefer to work only with other coders, that is fine too.
