AI Quick Dive for Educators
AI Quick Dive for Educators is an interactive workshop designed specifically for teachers and education professionals who want to understand AI at a deeper level than simply how to use this or that AI tool. If you’ve ever wondered how generative AI models actually work, what risks and harms to consider when using AI, or how on earth anyone can keep up with all these AI developments, read on!
During this 1.5-hour workshop, we will:
Demystify AI, from both a historical and a technical perspective
Discuss the broader impacts of AI on the environment, social-emotional development, future of work and the economy, society at large, and more
Learn how to be critical consumers of AI products, seeing through the AI companies’ marketing BS and general hype with each new release
Have the opportunity to ask an AI expert, researcher, and fellow educator any question whatsoever you may have about AI
IMPORTANT: If you are (only) looking for practical tips you can implement right away to integrate AI into your teaching, lesson planning, and student assessment, then this is NOT the workshop for you! (There are countless other workshops/courses/online resources out there for those sorts of things.)
This workshop serves as an introductory sampler of a longer five-module course called AI Deep Dive for Educators (more info will be shared during the workshop).
