Lasercutting: Making a Shelf
Instructor: Bryan
Get an introduction to laser cutting while making a small wooden shelf. Learn how laser-cut pieces fit together to create a useful object, with guidance on the process and safe equipment use.
The finished shelf is intended for lightweight items such as small spice jars or trinkets. No previous laser-cutting experience is needed.
This workshop counts toward your initial laser-cutter training. You’ll need to return for a separate final check-off before using the laser cutter independently.
Who can attend
Open to UC San Diego affiliates only, including students, staff, and faculty. These workshops are not open to the general public.
Before you arrive
You’ll need a Sandbox account before using the makerspace. If you don’t already have one, create your Sandbox account in advance so you can spend more time making when you arrive.
If your plans change
Our workshops fill quickly, and places are limited. Please register only if you expect to attend, and cancel your Luma registration as soon as you know you can’t make it. That gives another member of the UC San Diego community a chance to participate.
