About Event

The fashion industry is responsible for 10% of global carbon emissions. That's more than all international flights + shipping combined 🤯

As we approach September fashion month, let's learn about how some of NYC's sustainable fashion icons integrate sustainability & style.

This will be an energizing evening diving into the world of sustainable fashion! We'll have a dynamic panel of NYC sustainable fashionistas, a clothing swap, vendors, zero waste snacks & more!

Highlights Include:

  • Expert Insights: Hear from sustainable designers, activists, and leaders on circular fashion, ethical sourcing, and mindful consumption

  • Interactive Swap: Trade up to 10 gently used items (clothing/accessories) and trade for new-to-you favorites

  • Upcycling Station: Bring a few items to repair and repurpose!

  • Refreshments & Connection: Enjoy light bites and refreshments while making new friends

🗓 Evening Flow:
🌎 5:30–6:30: Arrive, drop off swap items, grab a drink
♻️ 6:30–7:15: Panel: What Exactly Is Sustainability in Fashion?
💭 7:15–8:00: Browse, swap & chat!

With a background in environmental justice, Kelly has a strong interest in the intersection between the fashion industry, policy, and human rights. Currently, she works as the Fellowship Coordinator for the State Energy and Environmental Impact Center at NYU connecting environmental law professionals with attorney general offices to work on clean energy, climate, and environmental matters.

Moderated by Yelle Belle

Yelle Belle is a vintage lover, outspoken minimal waster, and a zealous supporter of ecological reform, sensitive to slight changes, signals, or influences in culture. As the host of the Home Swap Stories video series, Yelle tours sustainable New Yorkers' homes.
