About Event

"Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words." — Ursula K. Le Guin

What does it mean to create as an act of resistance?

Often, we think of resistance as a loud, public shouting match. But more often, the most enduring resistance is the calm, stubborn refusal to let your creative voice be dampened by "shoulds," market trends, or the status quo. To create something authentic in a world overrun by sameness is, in itself, a radical act.

We are inviting you to a dinner and works-in-progress salon designed for those who use their work across different fields to push back, speak up, and stand firm.

Our ask: How are you resisting through your work right now?

Perhaps your resistance is choosing a slow, intentional process in a high-speed industry. Maybe it’s exploring a perspective that society overlooks, or finally giving breath to a project you’ve been told is "too niche."

We ask each of you to share a work-in-progress (no more than 5 minutes) that reflects where you’re growing creatively or resisting the status quo. It can be raw, rough, even unfinished –we’re not looking for polish, but for direction. Think a few pages of a story your writing. A new song you're taking on. A poem you've yet to share. A part of a show or a piece of humor. This is about showing where you’re headed so we can support and celebrate the journey with you.

The program:

  • A cocktail and ice breaker

  • A seated dinner

  • A sharing of works in progress

Dress code: Please wear something you love, that's comfortable for you, that will support you in sharing your work.

Our goals:

  • Bringing together our creative communities across The Ampersand Manifesto podcast and The Cohort

  • Encouraging out of the box thinking

  • Filling your creative cups as you stand firm in your resistance

Please RSVP by April 15th.

In solidarity and creativity,

Kristina & Jessica

** Please note - we are unable to accommodate refunds less than one week from the event, as we will have already paid for the dinner. Thanks for your understanding! **
