WikiGameJam SF 2025: Tabletop Games Edition

​WikiGameJam is a creative workshop for designers, and Wikipedia enthusiasts to come together to make playful games inspired and powered by the world’s largest free encyclopedia, Wikipedia, and its sister projects.

Whether you want to make a trivia boardgame, an editing battle game, make trading cards based on Wikidata, or something wild we haven’t imagined yet — this is your chance! Come alone or with a team, and spend the day turning knowledge into play.

​We will provide:

• ​Access to large format printer, 3d printers, laser cutter, various crafting tools, and design/technical support;

• ​Coffee and snacks, lunch, and a light dinner;

• ​Presentation on tools and existing Wikipedia-based games;

• ​Paper, pens, etc;

• ​Resources about tabletop games design.

​Please bring your laptop.

​Tentative schedule:
10.30-11: coffee, snacks and introductions
11-11.30: presentation of tools, context and wikipedia
11.30-12: brainstorming and making groups
12: Lunch arrives
Until 17.30: games prototyping
17.30-18: presentations and prizes

​We will provide further support to teams who want to continue developing their game, with workshop access, presentations to Wikimedians, and may be able to provide further design/technical support.

​Space is limited for this first time, but don't despair! If demand is high we will host more!

​Cohosted by Wiki Bay Area and Double Union. The venue is wheelchair-accessible. Parking is difficult, but it is well served by transit and easy to access on bicycle.
