Oasis Spotlight Series: Negotiation. Exit. Aftermath. With Jessica Mendoza
Most founders don’t think seriously about exit until someone reaches out.
This session is for founders a few years away from a potential exit who want to understand what really happens inside acquisition talks: how buyers assess companies, how negotiations unfold, what due diligence involves, and what changes once a deal is signed.
If you’re two to three years out, this is about understanding the process before you’re inside it.
What we’ll cover:
How acquisition conversations start and what buyers test early
Evaluating buyers beyond the headline valuation
The operational and emotional realities of due diligence
The trade-offs once a deal is on the table
What changes after the exit - roles, identity, incentives, expectations
Why Jessica Mendoza
Jessica is a 3x founder and one of the small percentage of women founders who have exited. She built Monadd, a venture-backed proptech company that ranked in the top <1% of startups through the AWS Startups Impact Fund and was acquired in 2025. Today, its technology reaches a third of UK households. She now advises founders on fundraising, distribution, and the realities of planning for and navigating an exit.
Moderated by Akhil Menon
Akhil is a serial entrepreneur, exited founder, and TEDx speaker who has built and scaled ventures across technology and media. He has raised venture capital, taken companies from zero to exit, and worked closely with early-stage teams refining go-to-market, storytelling, and fundraising execution. Today, he supports founders navigating the messy middle, from early traction to closing their first institutional round.
Good fit if you’re:
A founder building toward a potential exit in the next few years
Post-seed and thinking seriously about timing and long-term positioning
Wanting to understand how acquisition conversations unfold before you’re in one
You’ll leave with:
An understanding of how exits actually unfold - and what most founders only learn once they’re in the process.
