​This isn’t just another fire station. This 14,000+ sq ft facility is built on top of a massive steel barge, floating atop the San Francisco Bay and anchored in place by guide piles. It is the only floating fire station in the Western Hemisphere, mitigating flood risk from sea-level rise and allowing continuous boat access regardless of tidal changes. Engineered to be seismically resilient, the station is expected to remain operational even after a major earthquake, serving as a stable maritime command center when on-land infrastructure may be compromised.
