Lab tour: FREEDM Systems Center at NC State
Most climate hardware gets built somewhere you never see. This tour takes you inside.
Visit NC State’s FREEDM Systems Center on Centennial Campus, one of the National Science Foundation’s Engineering Research Centers, created to build a more efficient, resilient, renewable-ready grid. You’ll see the Green Energy Hub, a high-bay lab with a 12 kV, 1 MW test loop, rooftop solar, EV chargers, and an outdoor test pad. Researchers and industry partners use it to test grid equipment before it reaches the field.
You’ll hear how a technology moves from university lab to utility-scale testing, and why it matters for data centers, EV charging, and renewables.
Please note: Capacity is limited to 20 attendees total.
