When Psychology Meets UX is an event series created for UX designers and product thinkers who are curious about the human side of decision-making and how it shows up in real products.
What you can expect
Conversational AI is becoming a new interaction paradigm, but designing a useful experience takes more than simply introducing a chat interface.
In this session, Shivam Sunderam, Senior Experience Designer at eBay (focused on AI innovation), will share five practical lessons from designing across search, assistants, and conversational interfaces. The talk follows the user journey from identifying the right problem, to surfacing assistance in context, helping users express what they need, shaping responses that are easy to understand and act on, and creating experiences that adapt over time.
The focus is on the UX side of conversational AI: the design decisions, interaction patterns, and trade-offs that make these experiences genuinely useful.
Using practical examples, the session will explore how conversational interfaces differ from traditional UI and what designers should consider as these experiences become more common.
