Nature-inspired materials: From concept to platform
Teaser
How do we move from nature-inspired concepts in the lab to scalable material platforms that can reshape real markets?
This session brings together two complementary approaches: lignin-based micro- and nanocapsules for protection and delivery, and biohybrid, protein-based materials that combine optical and mechanical properties in new ways. Together with investors, we will discuss what it takes to move from proof of concept to industrial application faster.
Why is this topic relevant?
Nature-inspired materials are a key lever for reducing resource consumption, replacing fossil-based feedstocks, and introducing new functions into material systems, from controlled release and stabilization to biohybrid optics, sensing, and adaptive surfaces.
The promise is substantial, but the bottleneck is translation: scalability, reproducible quality, robust supply chains, regulatory requirements, and credible impact validation. This is where it is decided whether these technologies remain pilot projects or become economically viable platforms across industry, construction, agriculture, and eventually even regulated markets.
The session will take place on the MATERIA Planet at VENTURE SPRIND 2026, held at Futurium in Berlin. You will need a VENTURE SPRIND ticket to enter the venue and attend the session.
If you don’t have one yet but are an active investor, just drop us a line at [email protected] - there’s a good chance we can sort you out with a ticket. Availability is limited.
