Rooftop Open Mic Storytelling Night: TEDxAmsterdam presents The Terryfying Truth
Step into the spotlight for a special storytelling edition of Open Mic Night at Zoku Amsterdam, created in collaboration with TEDxAmsterdam.
This isn’t a night for talks, lessons or polished takeaways. It’s an invitation to take five minutes and tell us about a moment that changed something for you.
The theme: The Terrifying Truth
Think of a time the truth cracked something open. Not a lesson learned, a floor giving way. The moment you realized something wasn't what you thought, and there was no unknowing it. Maybe it shook a belief, a relationship, or your sense of who you were. Maybe it set you on a path you didn't choose and couldn't see the end of.
Tell us that story. What it felt like. What it cost. It doesn't need to resolve into anything. It just needs to be true.
How the night works
There are two ways to join us:
Speaker ticket — You'd like to share a five-minute story on this theme. Everyone with a Speaker Ticket is pooled together, and names are drawn at random on the night to decide who takes the mic. No early arrival, no signing up first, no securing your spot in advance. Everyone in the pool has an equal chance. We'll send a reminder email 24 hours ahead so you know exactly how the drawing works before you arrive.
Audience ticket — Prefer to listen? Choose an Audience Ticket, settle in and get inspired by storytellers and their authentic experiences.
Come as you are
This is a room for stories, not speeches. There’s nothing to teach, prove or promote. Just bring a story that’s true to you.
Please note: A Speaker Ticket does not guarantee a speaking slot. Speakers are selected at random from the pool on the night.
