About Event

A hands-on design sprint exploring how small Indian cities can move from consuming to making.

In July 2026, Maker's Asylum pledged Goa to become one of India's first Fab Region at the Fab City Summit at MIT, Boston — committing to a future where the region progressively produces what it consumes, locally, by 2054. This isn't a distant vision. It's a design challenge.

This 60-minute workshop uses design thinking as a tool to make that challenge tangible. Participants work in small groups to map what their city currently makes, imports, and wastes — then design one piece of "making infrastructure" that could shift that equation. No maker experience required. The room is the right mix of urban practitioners, climate researchers, community leaders, students, and citizens. The Goa Fab Region pledge serves as the live case study throughout.

Participants leave with a concrete concept sketch, a new vocabulary for thinking about urban production, and connections to others working on the same question.

Ideal group size: 20–35 people, in groups of 4–5.
