About Event

Gotham Foundry and NYCEDC are partnering with Communitas® America to launch a regenerative materials pitch day competition for the next EDC Impact Award to support innovators developing the Materials of the Future. It is designed to help early‑stage innovators sharpen their value proposition and polish their ability to communicate their scientific innovations to various audiences.

The inaugural cohort includes:

  • Amatec uses an industrial waste product to manufacture and install high-performance walls, making storm- and fire-resistant homes possible at no extra cost.

  • Anew Material is building a biodegradable, microplastic-free coating platform from plant-based materials to replace petrochemical films across cosmetics, textiles, and packaging.

  • BioWraptor is a peptide-based technology company that stabilizes perishable biomolecules at room temperature, eliminating the need for cold-chain storage and enabling broader access to medicines, diagnostics, and research tools.

  • Cellsense transforms algae and cellulose into beads and bead fabrics that eliminate microplastics across the fashion, jewelry, and beauty industries.

  • ChromaNova develops high-precision optical sensing for next-generation robotic touch.

  • CocoaFiber transforms chocolate industry agricultural waste into high performance biomaterials.

  • ECO-SKIN is growing bandages—plastic-free, biodegradable, and designed for better healing.

  • EquiPad is making greener, safer menstrual care extremely accessible.

  • Ouros Materials is turning CO2 into high performance fire-resistant composite materials to decarbonize the built environment.

  • Tastee Tape is replacing plastics with a biodegradable, food-safe, and cost-effective flexible packaging for food CPG businesses to reduce the presence of forever chemicals (PFAS).
