About Event

Building materials like metal roofing, wood, and ceramic tile present a particular challenge for automated inspection. Their surfaces are naturally irregular and textured, which causes traditional rule-based inspection systems to throw false rejects while missing the defects that actually matter. The result is inspection lines that either let bad product through or stop for false alarms that grind throughput to a halt.

Join Computer Vision Consultant Grace Freund as she shares how building materials manufacturers are putting computer vision into production today. Drawing on real customer deployments across metal roofing, wood, and ceramic tile lines, Grace will discuss the patterns she's seen, from teams just starting with single-defect detection to more mature deployments using vision for automated sorting and yield optimization.

You will come away with a clearer picture of where computer vision actually fits in building materials manufacturing, which defects (dents, knots, cracks, chips, scratches) are most readily addressed today, and how to evaluate whether the higher-value applications like sorting and yield optimization make sense for your operation. This session is built for plant leaders, quality engineers, and operations teams thinking about where vision could move the needle on their lines.

Every week we dive into the world of computer vision and explore new tools, interesting projects, and tutorials. This webinar is open to everyone, we hope to see you there!

We'll also make time at the end for open Q&A.
