Investigating Solarpunk, Part 2: Definitions, Metrics, and Structures
Following up from this event: https://luma.com/solarpunk1, let's take the next step, zeroing in more on what solarpunk is, especially compared to other movements like 'bright green environmentalism' or 'ecomodernism'.
We will brainstorm what the 'goal' is or what good 'metrics' might be to achieve those goals. Finally, we will look at the different levers to change systems to achieve those goals as a way to inform how existing goals are embedded in our current system.
Please read through the slides from the first event, and do the following homework before this session:
What ‘color of green’ do you think Solarpunk lies? Where is your own preference? How is Solarpunk similar to (or different from) Ecomodernism?
Read the basics of Donut Economics. Extra credit: read the basics of degrowth.
Read this short doc on ‘Beyond GDP’
Read Donella Meadows’ systems thinking.
Here are the current (in-progress) slides for the upcoming session, subject to change.
