On the Line: Founders, Investors & the Future of Startups (w/ Fortech.vc & BADideas.fund)

This side-event, hosted during How to Web by BADideas.fund and Fortech Investments, is designed to bring out real opinions and honest perspectives. After arriving and grabbing a drink and appetizers, you’ll be invited to take part in “On the Line” - a live group activity inspired by Jubilee’s “Spectrum” experiment.
Participants will respond to bold statements (for example, “Solo founders shouldn’t be funded” or “Taking money from family or friends is a bad idea”) by physically stepping onto a 7-point line on the floor, ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree. There’s no obligation to speak, but if you want to explain your position, you’ll have the space to do so. And if you’d rather just watch, that’s encouraged too - there will be plenty to observe 😅
When registering, you will be asked to book one or multiple sessions, each lasting about 25 minutes. If one group fills up too much, we’ll make small adjustments on the spot to keep the sessions balanced. When not participating, guests can mingle in the bar area or listen in as others take their turn.
The event will be filmed, including both the discussion sessions and the general atmosphere. We kindly ask everyone to arrive on time. Final timing and venue details will be sent out via eMail/WhatsApp ahead of the event.
18:30–18:55 | Startup Funding Myths | Common advice isn’t always good advice. We’ll challenge statements like “Founders should never give away more than 15%” and “SAFE notes are overrated.” ‼️ Ideal for founders and early-stage investors.
19:05–19:30 | Who Should Build and Back Startups | Is solo founding a red flag? Are ex-operators better investors? Are warm intros gatekeeping? This session looks at who holds power in startups. ‼️ Best for VCs, angels, and ecosystem insiders.
19:40–20:05 | The Future of Startups | We’ll debate what’s ahead: remote vs. in-person, climate vs. AI, growth vs. profit. ‼️ A fit for anyone building, backing, or rethinking what startups should look like next year.
