Multiple Signatures with Matthew Cha
San Huan's residency performance "Multiple Signatures" explores polyrhythmic dub-IDM at 170bpm, morphing sounds from collaborative improvisations of synth, strings, flute, and percussion. Expect everything from ambient to heady club-tinged psychedelia.
For the second edition of Multiple Signatures, San Huan will present their forthcoming EP on Spectral Mutation, “blue and green lozenges of April heat” in full ambisonics. Matthew Cha will follow, presenting live spatial works for the Buchla modular. It’s going to be bass, it's going to be concrète, it’s going to be techno, it’s going to be free jazz.
Artist: San Huan
San Huan is a Brooklyn-based producer and live performer who shapes electroacoustic experimentation into intimate compositions of dub, IDM, and techno. Their practice unfolds through deliberate physical encounters—naive percussion playing, unstructured synthesizer explorations, collaborative improvisations that capture the presence of human touch within electronic frameworks.
As a recipient of the Andreas Robbins scholarship at the Underground Producers Alliance, they pursued private study of experimental electroacoustic composition influenced by dub, free jazz, and sound art under Raz Mesinai (Badawi), Shahzad Ismaily, and Scotty Hard. Recent performance history includes appearances at Light & Sound Design, Silence Please, The Living Gallery (NYC), Eklektik Elektrik (DC), and 924 Gilman (Berkeley).
Artist: Matthew Cha

Cha’s performances focus on the Buchla synthesizer, fusing a background in saxophone with an unrestrained pursuit of new electronic timbres. cha is a sophisticated live musician, devising expressively daring performances that celebrate the nuance of the buchla’s unique input structures. These sets feature live synthesis on his buchla modular and explore improvisation, minimalism, and the power of pure analogue synthesis.

Known to prepare custom tracks for his sets ahead of time on his buchla, cha’s personal approach to mixing has been proven in contexts ranging from his own d.i.y. “avant-hard” parties to prominent dc venues like U street music hall, flash and The anthem.
Cha pursues extensive international collaboration and output, with engagements in shanghai, chongqing, tokyo, seoul, prague, and mexico city on his performance resume. In july 2024, he made his berlin debut at Berghain’s Klubnacht.
