solarpunk storytelling workshop (dinner included)
What you should know (food! fun! friends!)
About the event:
June's monthly theme is STORYTELLING and how it intersects with the climate crisis. The third Tuesday of the month is our ACT night
Soapbox founder Nivi Achanta (hi that's me) will lead a storytelling workshop. Credentials include being the author of the world's first solarpunk romance novel, forthcoming in 2027, and being named to the Grist 50 list
No experience needed! You just need to want to make friends, have fun, and dream up silly little stories that are necessary for saving the world.
You'll leave this workshop with tangible tales to take with you, as well as other climate actions
Please do your best to arrive by 6:30!
6-7ish will be dedicated dinner + chat time, 7-8:30pm will be our facilitated discussion/workshop/writing practice time, and 8:30-9pm will be dedicated time for you to figure out what you want to do next with what you've come up with
More broadly:
Soapbox Seattle is the city's most joyful community space for climate action. We gather EVERY TUESDAY same time same place (climate church?? lol)
It's all ages
Plant-based dinner is always included so you don't have to think about what to eat. We have our own lovely chef so the food is cooked with love from local and regenerative farmers
No you do not have to be "a climate person" to come; you just need to be excited to meet people who share your values of caring about the earth/each other/wanting to breathe air etc. and no experience is required!
There will be activities and programming! This is not one of those networking events where you pretend to be on your phone because you don't know what to do.
All our events are sliding scale and if the litsed options don't work for you, you can request a reparative ticket here if you need one. It costs us ~$35 per person to put on so please contribute what you can
This space is hosted by Soapbox Project, a nonprofit that creates joyful community structures to heal our climate anxiety and loneliness through expertly facilitated connection, learning, and action activities. Find your place in the climate movement with our online and in-person community!
