SWIRL: An Immersive Art Party - A one-day experiment in generative technology, immersion, and interactivity.

Presented by Machine Cinema, Creative Technology Center

On August 23rd, Machine Cinema, the Creative Technology Center invite you into something different — a single day designed to show you where creativity is going, what it feels like to live inside it, this is SWIRL... synthetic world in real life.

Our amazing community of AI artists have assembled a menagerie of colors, sights, and sounds!

Food and Drinks will be included with your ticket and for those juggling little ones on a Sunday, the event content is family friendly! Guests under 16 get in for free :)

Featured Acts:

Unhinged - XR Dome Listening Party - Created by King Willonious, a Time 100 AI Innovator among whose many claims to fame include capturing a cultural flashpoint with the viral hit BBL Drizzy blending original music and sharp satire. In 8/23 will gather us in the Dome + his own brand of projected visuals to share a first listen of his unreleased new album!

A special private screening of viral sensation Zack London aka Gossip Goblin’s incredible short film “Pomegranate” on the giant XR Wall and stage. Part of our community’s effort to spread the word on his upcoming film Gods Don’t Give Gifts—a feature-length science-fiction and horror anthology premiering in theaters October 30.

BECOMING WITH from choreographer and XR artist Zelia ZZ Tan, it is an intimate hybrid performance adapted from Living Landscape , exploring care, vulnerability, memory, and transformation through dance. Inspired by the myth of Achilles from a feminist perspective, the work asks how bodies continue to carry and reshape one another through shared experience. Live virtual environments evolve alongside the performers, extending choreography into an immersive dialogue between physical and digital presence. Together, movement and technology cultivate a poetic space where audiences are invited to sense new possibilities for connection, embodiment, and becoming.

PLEXUSPLAY; Matt DiBiase combines electronic music, live instruments, immersive visuals, reactive LED wearables, and audience participation to create a festival dance experience unlike any other. With his custom electronic xylophone, PlexusPlay improvises melodies and triggers audio samples linked to his visuals and light suit, creating a show that’s both dazzling and impactful.

SUBMERGED STILLNESS - Collaborators: Mark Batson & Alton Glass. Experimental Dome work in progress — a study in slowing down through light, shape, form, and sound under the full dome. Lie back and stay with it.

DREAM NAVIGATOR: From Louie Pecan and Nick Regalbuto, an update from their previous shared experience. Attendees will be invited on stage to whisper their dreams into a microphone and have them brought to generative life on the projection mapped walls — and this time they'll navigate the 3D space of their dreams with a joystick, with live dream analysis from Dream Group Practitioner Melissa LaFara.

QRAFT: VIBECODING SYNTH WORKSHOP — Led by Torkom of Quantum Harmonix, this hands-on workshop invites participants to turn an idea into a playable digital instrument. Explore synthesis, sound design, modulation, effects, and real-time experimentation—no coding or music-production experience required. Bring a laptop, headphones, and a concept to develop, or start from scratch. The session concludes with a frequency sound meditation performed by Torkom using his own vibe-coded synthesizer.

RÊVE — Lauren Michelle - BBC Cardiff Singer of the World prize-winner -  brings opera into the age of AI. In this intimate 30-minute journey, the acclaimed soprano performs beloved French songs and awakens visuals awaken with her voice, an AI ambient soundscape guides your arrival, and an interactive floor of light responds beneath your feet. Step into the dream.

THE DOME GALLERY: Step inside a full projection dome for a sensory screening of short films made by our generative AI filmmakers, made exclusively for the format. Works from talented artists from our community will be featured across the dome. Curated by Jackie Juniper.

More acts to be announced + demos and presentations with leading AI tool companies and studios.

This is an early look at our vision for the future of entertainment — and we intend to do this again and again.
