Food Is Too Valuable To Waste
In Canada, 47% of the food we produce is never eaten, and at least a third of that is perfectly good, edible food. This waste is a massive driver of climate change - in fact, if food waste were a country, it would be the third-largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world.
At the same time, 1 in 4 Canadian households experience food insecurity. Because food insecurity is rooted in poverty, distributing surplus food addresses immediate hunger, but not the systemic cause.
Join the team at Food Stash Foundation, a Vancouver charity tackling both food waste and food insecurity in a dignified way. We will dive into how these issues manifest locally in Vancouver, followed by interactive breakout groups. Together, we’ll brainstorm action at every tier: from micro-level habits in our own kitchens to macro-level advocacy for food systems and policy change.
We hope to see you there!
