Skills 101: Build Your Own Scientific Agent Skill
In this beginner-friendly online workshop you'll build a working Agent Skill from scratch, install it in Claude Code, and run a before/after that shows it actually changed what the model produced.
Yuhuan He (AI Engineer, K-Dense) will walk through how to install a ready-made skill first so you can feel the difference and build one together (a meeting-notes formatter that turns messy notes into a clean, structured summary).
A note on scope: We'll work through a simple writing example to keep the mechanics clear, but the concepts are fully extensible to other application areas such as scientific reporting, lab protocols, niche-package quickstarts, code-review checklists, figure house-styles, and more.
If you want to build along, you'll need:
Claude Code, signed in with a Claude Pro or Max plan
An IDE (e.g. VS Code, Cursor) with an integrated terminal
Node.js 18+ for the Claude Code install
We'll share the workshop pack (sample inputs, templates, and prepared before/after reports) ahead of time, so you can join and build along live.
K-Dense is building an agentic research platform that helps scientists run real, autonomous research workflows end to end. We also maintain the largest open-source Scientific Agent Skills repo (29.6k★ on GitHub).
