Niknaz Aftahi is the founder of aec+tech. Frustrated by how difficult it was for design technology professionals to quickly grasp the practical applications of new tools and solutions, she built aec+tech as a community-driven resource to bridge that gap.

​Prior to launching aec+tech, Niknaz practiced architecture in the San Francisco Bay Area, serving both as a design professional and a design technology lead. She has been a keynote speaker at major international AEC-tech events and has taught online architecture courses to Bahai students in Iran, who continue to be deprived of access to universities in their own country.

​Drawing on insights from the aec+tech community database, Niknaz now helps AEC/O firms of all sizes identify the right tools and solutions for their specific project scopes and typologies. She guides them through mapping their existing tech stack, uncovering gaps and inefficiencies, and recommending an optimized stack tailored to their needs. She also supports design and construction companies in tracking the testing, piloting, and adoption of new tools into their workflows.
