The People Behind the Event

We started as a group of people who wanted to stay connected with our passions but also with friends. By sharing our hobbies, we found a low-stakes and fun way to make new friends and deepen existing bonds. 👯

We have been running free community events every week, with attendees chipping in to cover materials costs when needed. 💵 Events like this help us continue supporting our community members' creative pursuit, while also help raise community funds to purchase supplies, keep costs low for everyone, and pay for any potential rental fees that might occur. 💪

Your support helps us continue to build a welcoming community where we can all explore and share our passions. 🥰 If you want to see more events like this, please support by attending the event or donating to us! If interested, we'd also love to connect and share our experiences with anyone wanting to build a similar community. 🏠

Activity Detail & Host Bio

Oolong Tea Journey Workshop (with Edward)

Honored to share four of these oolongs, each hand-carried by Edward from its origin. We’ll brew and taste them together in an artisanal style, then move into a cupping practice to explore oolong's character more deeply. It’s an afternoon about heritage, craftsmanship, and slowing down to really experience tea.

Host Bio: Edward holds the prestigious designations of Advanced Sommelier of Chinese Tea and Advanced Tea Critic in China — titles earned through years of hands-on exploration across China, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Since relocating to Canada in 2017, Edward has become a leading voice in tea education, guiding events at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Brock University, Niagara College, and the Toronto and London Tea Festivals.

House Sketching Social (with Ruhao)

Ever walked by a cozy café, an old building, or a cute corner house and thought, “I wish I could capture that on paper”? This event is all about slowing down, sketching together, and making it social.

✨ What to Expect:

  • A relaxed session where we sketch houses/buildings and share tips.

  • No art experience needed — come as you are, doodler or pro.

  • A small, cozy group (max 6 people) so everyone has space and conversation flows naturally.

Host Bio: A girlie who loves whimsical activities and currently testing her free will to the maximum (legally)

Still Life Sketching Workshop (with Kiara)

Whether you’re a complete beginner or just want to reconnect with sketching, this is the perfect space to play with light, shadow, and form, with our host Kiara and other friends. Bring along a beloved object, something with a story of yours, and give it a new life on paper with your unique touch. Come rediscover the joy of sketching!

Host Bio: My name is Kiara and I've been drawing for as long as I remember! It's a hobby that serves me well because it allows me to pay attention to details of things that I otherwise wouldn't have noticed!

Poetry Jam (with Ishita)

Join us for a unique poetry jam where we’ll dive into the literary art. This is a safe and supportive space to develop, share, and listen to original works. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just starting, our provided prompts will help you spark inspiration and get your words flowing.

Bring your voice and your stories. In return, the host will gift you with a special, personalized poem, typed just for you on a classic typewriter.

Host Bio: Ishita is a poet who believes poetry belongs at the dinner table, on street corners, and in the small moments we often overlook. Through live typewriter sessions, online essays, and community dinners, she builds spaces where words connect strangers into something more like family.

Winemaker-Led LCBO Tour & Wine Social (with Edward)

Join me for a one-of-a-kind wine experience! We’ll begin with a guided LCBO shopping tour, exploring iconic wine regions, their signature or niche styles, and answering all your questions about your favourite bottles.

A guided tasting and pairing will take place at Moments Cafe with a complimentary pastry or dessert. Bring one bottle, either from the LCBO trip or your own cellar, to share and enjoy.

Host Bio: At Niagara College Teaching Winery, Edward manages the winery lab and winemaking projects, teaches Vineyard Management, and supports a range of courses including sensory evaluation, wine chemistry, and lab analysis. Concurrently, he leads brand strategy and growth at Dobbin Estate while pursuing his WSET Diploma.

Origami Workshop (with Sana)

Ready to transform a simple square of paper into a work of art? 💌 Sana will guide you through the basic techniques to create not one, but three different models, from a simple star to an intricate flower.

It's your chance to bring your imagination to life, one fold at a time. Come play, create, and walk away with your very own collection of paper wonders!

Host Bio: Folding paper has become both a creative outlet and a therapeutic practice, ever since I fell in love with it as a 10-year-old girl. It feels instinctive to me now, whenever I holds a sheet of paper, I find myself folding it into something new, and enjoy showing others how transformative the paper medium is!
