Will It Pass DNV? What Investors and Boards Need to Know About Certifying New Maritime Tech. Keynote & Q&A with Troels Møller (CPH, DK)
If you back or sit on the board of a maritime or energy startup, one milestone can make or break the business case: certification. It decides when a product can reach the market, how much capital it burns along the way, and whether customers and insurers will trust it.
On 26 October, Troels Møller of DNV opens CVX Network in the Network Maritime & Cleantech. He'll show how DNV assesses new fuels, technologies and materials, and what that means for the companies in your portfolio.
Troels has seen the industry from every deck. He sailed as an Able Seaman, served in the Royal Danish Navy in Greenland, studied Naval Architecture and managed vessels. He has also worked across classification, offshore wind, vessel management and commercial roles. Today he helps shipowners and maritime companies solve their hardest technical, operational and strategic challenges.
What you'll take back to your portfolio and boardroom
How DNV works, and the business model behind the world's leading classification society
Which bets DNV believes in and which it doesn't, across alternative fuels, wind-assisted propulsion, energy efficiency and emissions reporting
Why there's no single solution for decarbonising shipping, and where the investable opportunities are
A practical checklist: the certification process step by step, and the 5–10 questions your startup should be able to answer before it starts
How to tell when a company is ready for certification, and how that affects risk, timelines and funding needs
A live deep dive into one company case
Open Q&A, so bring the questions your board keeps asking
Then the room keeps working. At 16:30 we roll straight into the CVX Partner Meeting, with company presentations, facilitated matchmaking and networking until 20:30. As usual, a glass of wine tends to follow.
