Thought Experiments on Patios X ATX Writing Club
This time, you get to write the thought experiments.
We’re teaming up with ATX Writing Club for a chance to meet new people, explore strange ideas, and create something together. Then we’ll see what happens when someone else gets their hands on your hypothetical :)
How does it work?
Round 1: Have the conversations.
We’ll start with a regular round of Thought Experiments on Patios: a short, philosophical scenario to discuss with your table, with a twist partway through that might change your answer.
Round 2: Write your own.
Nicole will lead a 10–15 minute workshop on the principles she uses to write thought experiments that get hundreds of people talking every month.
Then it’s your turn. Write one together as a table, pair up, or work individually. Follow whatever idea interests you, and upload your thought experiment for the final round.
Round 3: Try them out.
We’ll explore everyone’s freshly written thought experiments, with a new one dropping about every five minutes. A chance to play with each other’s ideas and see where the conversations go.
Who is this for?
Anyone curious. No background in philosophy or writing needed. Different perspectives are what make both the writing and the conversations interesting.
Come with an open mind and a willingness to try something out. Your idea doesn’t need to be polished to start a great conversation.
