Folk Tech Connection Call - December 2025
Folk Tech is a movement among people who want to develop apps for their community without depending on big tech companies and a community of developers making decentralized, p2p, open source, open standard-based tech.
In Silicon Valley, people are “consumers” and “users.” We resist a narrative that turns people into subjects of a technocracy. With Folk Tech, we’re all just folks.
We'll have an interview with the amazing Mauve Signweaver, shareouts on projects, and time to connect.
Note: We heard folks wanted more time to develop relationships so in addition to breakouts, we'll have an optional 30 minute hangout at the end to explore and meet in small groups and return with our insights and appreciations.
Also! Stay tuned as we start sharing some of the resources folks have requested - and we'll let you know how to contribute to them as well (such as "getting off big tech" guides, examples of Folk Tech, possible working groups, and local initiatives that fit into the movement).
Got ideas for future meetings? Please share. See you soon!
