About Event

Join Toronto 2030 District, EPICS, and the City of Toronto for a curated morning coffee meet-up and an EPICS immersive retrofit planning session. This intimate, high-impact gathering is focused on accelerating building decarbonization across Toronto’s mid-tier commercial building sector. Decaf & Decarb is designed for building owners, property managers, and retrofit decision-makers interested in practical, real-world pathways to electrification— particularly heat pump adoption in existing buildings.

Attendees will:

  • Learn about Toronto 2030 District’s Peer-to-Peer Learning Network, Heat Pump Fundamentals training, and the development of our Heat Pump Highway research

  • Learn about the City of Toronto’s Better Buildings Partnership which offers a range of programs that provide funding, guidance and resources to help building owners improve energy efficiency, tune up their building operations, and reduce emissions in residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.

  • Learn about Enspire Potential: Immersive Cleantech Studio (EPICS), just launched by BOMA Enspire Program, featuring Retrofit Planning Sessions and Cleantech Interactive Experiential Learning

  • Connect directly with leading organizations shaping Toronto’s retrofit ecosystem

  • Learn from peers actively planning or implementing decarbonization projects

  • Experience a (very cool) 15-20 minute interactive, immersive retrofit planning session showcasing clean technology pathways and deep retrofit case studies.

  • Enjoy coffee and treats with industry leaders!

T2030D and the City will lead the conversation-driven session focused on action, collaboration, and unlocking real projects in the EPICS Liberty Village office space. Concurrently, the EPICS team will facilitate rotating 15 min Interactive Deep Retrofit Planning Sessions in their adjacent Immersive XR Media Room with 360 Digital Twins and Touch Walls.

About the Hosts:
Toronto 2030 District is a nonprofit initiative working to accelerate the decarbonization of Toronto’s existing buildings. Through collaboration with building owners, utilities, policymakers, and industry partners, we develop tools, convene stakeholders, and support real-world projects that enable the transition to low-carbon, high-performance buildings.

Enspire Potential: Immersive Cleantech Studio (EPICS) is a cutting-edge learning program launched recently by BOMA Enspire. This free pilot project is open to sustainability professionals, building performance teams, and job seekers interested in Cleantech careers. EPICS experiential learning lessons replicate real-world operational and retrofit environments using 3D/VR/Digital Twin technology projected in our 15' x 15' Immersive Media Room with touch walls. Interactive facilitated 1-2 hr sessions cover Retrofit Planning, Building Performance, Cleantech Career Pathways, and Smart Building Commissioning.

The Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) at the City of Toronto offers a suite of programs that connect building owners with funding, guidance and resources to help cut costs, improve energy efficiency, and reduce emissions in commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-unit residential buildings across Toronto. BBP also offers year-round learning and networking opportunities to strengthen industry collaboration and advance collective action toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2040.
