Before the Light Arrives: Rituals & Remembrance in our Creative Lives - A Creative Workshop
What is your relationship to your creative practice? How has it evolved alongside you? What shapes has it taken to get your attention? What shapes do you take in response? Weaving wisdoms of Toni Morrison, Sobonfu Some, and Solaris's own ancestral memory, we will explore these questions and more as we consider the role of ritual in our creative lives.
Participants will leave with foundational rituals for returning to their creative center, a clearer sense of how to honor process over product, and a framework for building consistency and care into their artistic rhythm.
The workshop will be led by Solaris J Capehart (they/them) a Liberian poet and educator based in Bed-Stuy. Alongside their neighbors, they help nurture The Garden Abolitionist Bookstore & Community Well.
This is a community creative workshop. Attendance is offered on a sliding scale — contribute whatever feels right for you. No amount is too small, and every bit helps us keep this space thriving.
