About Event

Course (4/7): Running Ethereum: Clients, Networking & Nodes

What does it actually mean to “run Ethereum”?

In this session, we explore:

  • Execution clients vs Consensus clients

  • Validator clients

  • Peer-to-peer networking (DevP2P & libp2p)

  • Sync strategies

  • What happens when you start a node

We’ll break down:

  • Client architecture

  • How nodes discover peers

  • How blocks and transactions propagate

  • How networking impacts security

If you’ve never run a node before, this is your bridge from theory to practice.

If you have run one, this will help you understand what your machine is actually doing.

This session is especially useful for developers considering deeper protocol contribution or preparing for the Study Group.
